POEM
For MJC 3
by Andrea Campbell
Let's wrap each other in
    the velvet of our hearts.
    Let's nourish verses which
    Heal broken water jugs.
    I am here now
    I await your return
    Fierce, free of the bitterness
    We harvested below sea level.
Let's hide in the hollows of
    trees and chirp like blue-
    breasted-birdlings
    Clasping hands
    Let's speak only of reunion
    Warmth and the comfort of
    abandoned youth.
Cheek on cheek, let's rub feet.
    Let's forgive boldly!
    The hunger of desertion
    Satiated by timeless
    Understanding.
